ERP pioneers

What will the ERP system of the future look like? Aareon’s development experts all agree that it will be user-centric, mobile, integrative, analytical, predictive, intelligent, highly automated and cloud-based. The added value of such a system in practice is demonstrated by the latest ERP generation for the German market: Aareon Wodis Yuneo.

A common vision

ERP 2025 is a project tasked with developing a forward-looking strategy for the entire Aareon Group in respect of next-generation ERP systems. The latter remain at the heart of the Aareon Smart World digital ecosystem and are taken to the next stage of development by the use of new technologies such as business intelligence, artificial intelligence, big data and robotics.

Representatives from all Aareon country markets set out their common vision below.

“Global players show us how much potential the digital transformation is capable of unleashing. Our customers want to work on digitalisation at the same high level and to benefit from new technologies that serve their purpose.”

“The ERP 2025 project has enabled us to develop a common vision for ERP systems of the future for the entire Aareon Group; these focus even more strongly on benefits for the customer.”

“As an international company, we want to combine our strengths across markets with a view to creating synergies and offering our customers as much added value as possible.”

“Artificial intelligence, virtual assistants and cloud solutions are ubiquitous and offer ERP systems a great deal of potential when it comes to further simplifying our customers’ everyday working lives.”

“Machine learning enables an ERP system to understand and handle recurring processes better all the time, so that ultimately standards can be automated in their entirety.”

Features of ERP systems of the future

One thing was clear in the ERP 2025 project from the outset: however diverse the range of new technologies may be, the focus of all development activities remains firmly on the user. “Generating benefits for the customer is our top priority,” says Dr. André Rasquin, Chief Operations Officer (COO) at Aareon. “The use of new technologies must never be purely an end in itself, but must always serve to provide our customers with the best possible support as they strive to achieve their business objectives.”

User-centric

An operating concept that can be geared individually towards every user and the respective workflows, making for greater convenience and faster results.

Mobile

All data can be accessed at any time and from anywhere – from the office, when working from home or on the go.

Integrative

Aareon Smart World offers everything from a single source and at the same time is open to third-party systems – enabling entire processes to be mapped in optimum fashion.

Analytical

Business intelligence tools enable comprehensive analyses that are simple, quick and clear – all at the touch of a button.

Predictive

Datasets are combined with statistical data and market values to ensure reliable planning and forecasting.

Intelligent

AI components such as machine learning enable the system to operate proactively, guide users through processes and avoid errors.

Highly automated

Routine tasks are automated over time until the system is ultimately able to perform them independently in their entirety.

Cloud-based

Smooth processes, flexible additions, plus data and investment security – all thanks to cloud-based operations.

Focus on the customer

One example of an ERP system that boasts all of these features is Wodis Yuneo, the new Wodis Sigma product generation for Germany. It is a declared objective of Aareon’s ERP pioneers to involve customers in the development process as fully and as early as possible.

In the words of Martin Habib, Chief Developer for Wodis Yuneo at Aareon: “We involved over ten long-standing, highly experienced customers from the housing industry – from companies to co-operatives – in the development process at an early stage. One-day workshops were held at the head office in Mainz at two- or three-monthly intervals. These were eventually moved online as Covid-19 took hold.” Sebastian Schlackl, Team Coordination Application Support at wbg Nürnberg GmbH, was among the customers involved. His summary:

“This joint further development effort focussed on our needs as a customer. It was a collaboration between equals.”

With the help of customers, Wodis Yuneo evolved into an innovative ERP system that is closely geared to user requirements.

“The system will inspire many employees to embrace innovation. This is precisely the sort of momentum required for the implementation of what can be complex digitalisation processes in the company.”

“A system that can learn and make suggestions on a user-related and case-by-case basis – that really appeals to me. What’s more, the option of working flexibly from anywhere really reflects current trends.”

Helene Stang, Management Board Consultant, Wohnungsbaugesellschaft Villingen-Schwenningen mbH

“We are counting on the system’s openness in respect of artificial intelligence and business intelligence to provide reliable and precise automation that gives our employees more time for relevant tasks.”

A new ERP generation is also impressing customers in the Netherlands. One of these is Utrecht-based Habion, which was the first to go live with Tobias 365. “The cloud-based Tobias 365 is a future-proof ERP system that is constantly evolving,” says Wilfred Pollack, IT & Information Manager at Habion.

“Disruptions to business workflows caused by time-consuming software updates and new installations because a system is incapable of keeping pace with our requirements are now things of the past. This gives us the ability to add new functions and boost efficiency on an ongoing basis.”

Aareon ERP systems in Europe

A total of nine different Aareon ERP systems make for smooth processes at around 3,000 customers, who together manage over 10 million units in nine European countries. These systems include those for the housing industry, as well as – particularly in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the Nordic countries – systems for the commercial property industry.
